Leading the way on polio vaccines – thanks from Zina
I’d like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to staff following the news that more children have been vaccinated against polio in north east London than any other part of the capital.
The drive to boost immunity began after this summer’s troubling news that the virus had been detected in sewage.
Since then, I’m pleased to say that more than 66,000 children have been vaccinated in north east London, which is 30% of our eligible population.
These numbers are a testament to the incredibly hard work of colleagues across the system including our GP practices and our providers who have managed this alongside other pressures.
There is more work to do to ensure we continue to reach children from all parts of north east London. I’d encourage all of you to make every contact count, as it's only by actively promoting the vaccine that more children will be protected
But I wanted to take this opportunity to reflect on our collective success and say on behalf of our residents a heartfelt thank you and well done.
