This is short training module on delivering Very Brief Advice on Smoking (VBA+) to people who smoke in Tower Hamlets. This 60 minute module will provide you with the knowledge and skills needed so that you can feel confident in delivering VBA+

 

Our training features a brief overview of tobacco use in Tower Hamlets the general principles of, and skills to deliver, VBA+ apply to any clinical or community setting.

After completing this training module you will be able to:

  • Understand tobacco use and prevalence in Tower Hamlets inc smokeless tobacco
  • How to refer patients to the Stop Smoking Services in Tower Hamlets
  • Understand the treatment on offer including NRT, Cytisine, Zyban and vaping
  • Participate in the Swap to Stop vape Offer

Deliver the 3As

  • Establish smoking status [ASK]and
  • Advise on the best way of stopping smoking [ADVISE]
  • Provide options for additional support and access to stop smoking medications [ACT]
  • Deal effectively with patients and clients who do not feel able to quit
  • Complete a short online assessment to consolidate your knowledge
